Friendship Families (or partners) are matched up with one student, and get together several times per semester – just to introduce them to some of the activities of American life. Maybe you invite them for Sunday dinner with the family, to a relative’s wedding, perhaps you go on a bike ride together in the park, or invite them to church with you.
You decide what activities to share, and typically you agree to transport the student to and from the activity.
The minimum commitment is two connections per semester, but you may do more if you’d like, and if the student’s schedule allows.
ISM-St Louis offers training and even a chance to join another Friendship Family in one of their activities, so you can learn more about what’s involved.
ISM also has many activities throughout the school year, and you may simply invite your student to participate in one of those activities together.
